Here are two recently completed cat portrait commissions. (These two cats are brothers BTW.) I've been working on a series of cat portrait paintings for a client from the States, but they have not been the usual pastel portrait work I tend to get. These are small format artworks, roughly index card-size. They are also mixed media pieces, mostly Derwent graphic studio pencils, incorporating gouache and ink.
If you are interested in commissioning a portrait please visit my Portrait Art & Gallery page.

Tinkering at the Edges
I've recently carried out some minor updates to the static website: www.mydepictions.co.uk. Probably the most noticeable change, is to the Mydepictions homepage. I have removed the AdSense blocks. Less noticeable, are the links to this blog, which I have been integrating throughout the static site. Really, I've been tinkering at the edges. I will be carrying out some major changes and improvements at some point (when I get a chance to put down the paint-brushes!).
I got fed up with filtering sites on AdSense in direct competition with mine. The ad blocks on the homepage page weren't performing in any case. Another reason for removing them was that they could be confused with the left-hand navigation panel - just read this comment from Jennifer Kyrnin. My main aim with AdSense has been to cover the cost of hosting my website, over a 12 month period. I haven't tried too hard, and so far, so good. (If I like someone's site I visit and they have ads, I usually visit a few sites of interest ;)!)
The Artist and Crafts Links page is regularly updated - so do check back there for some great artist & crafter sites. (I could do with some more links there, so if you have an artist or craft site and would like to exchange links, you can contact me via the link at the top of the sidebar.) The way the links are presented on that page, means that it gets pulled in Google search results. One reason being there are written descriptions accompanying the links. (i.e. There is some written copy for the search engines to spider.) This is such a simple step to take, and can benefit your site by increasing its visibility in search engine results pages, and bringing in more visitors. (For some further info on writing links also see my post Anchor Text & Why it's Important).
Right Brained Spacial Interpersonal Thinker
I'm apparently right brained, and also a spacial and interpersonal thinker..well, that's if the tests are to be believed. And, no real surprises there for someone who is an artist and blogs.
If you've not heard of right brain/left brain theory before, there's an interesting article explaining the relevance of right brain/left brain theory to artists on about.com:painting. For a more general test there's also Are You Right of Left brained?
Following on from the right-brain left-brain tests, there's the BBC Science & Nature What Kind of Thinker are You? test, which looks at different thinking styles in relation to the genius Leonardo Da Vinci.
These tests are just for fun and highlight people's differences, not how good someone is at something. So, not to be taken too seriously. However, being aware of your natural inclinations and style(s) of thinking, could help you to find new ways to approach/think about your artwork, so they can be useful.
(In my case, perhaps I need to be trying out more sculpture!)
Pumpkin Patch Halloween Art ACEOs
First there was a black cat in the pumpkin patch. (He's now found a new home.)
Now there's a white rabbit in amongst the pumpkins.....
and he's looking for a new home, so please check out the eBay auction if you think you can help!
These miniatures are very typical of ACEO art. They tap into seasonal trends and combine with popular ACEO subjects (black cats and white rabbits). These pumpkin patch pets are now available as printed cards, mugs and other products in the Naj Art Zazzle store.
